This position will provide a high standard of clinical support to consumers presenting with multiple complex problems including serious mental illness, associated psychosocial issues, and substance use issues. In addition to the clinical and operational work, a significant component of the role involves the development and maintenance of sustainable working partnerships with a range of other service providers both internal and external to St Vincent’s Health Australia. POSITION DUTIES Provide leadership to multidisciplinary staff members, and actively contribute to clinical practice within the mental health service as a senior staff member ensuring that clinical practice standards are met. Attend the daily operational planning meetings with the Team Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist and plan and allocate day to day clinical and other work responsibilities to the team including the oversight of referrals to the team. Ensure effective roster management systems are in place, implemented and monitored. Assist the Team Manager in ensuring the team meets clinical and operational targets by p roviding clinical and line supervision to individual staff members regularly. Assist the Team Manager in the recruitment of new staff where required. Deputise and act up for the Team Manager when required, or as delegated by the team manager Provide supervision to staff as well as students within the relevant discipline and provide clinical leadership through active participation in discipline specific activities Lead and contribute to service development and quality activities, such as policy and procedure development, delivery of education, and development of projects and portfolios Provide clinical services to consumers and their carers/supporters using a strengths-based approach including the provision of high-quality mental health assessments, case management and clinical interventions. Build a therapeutic alliance with the consumer and family/carers and actively engage them in the planning, delivery and evaluation of their care. Develop responsive and accessible services and continuity of care through effective liaison with the integrated adult area mental health service and other relevant services. Assist in the provision of primary, secondary and tertiary consultation services, community development, liaison and linkage to other agencies that also provide support to people with mental illnesses as required. LOCAL WORK ENVIRONMENT St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. The Adult Mental Health service components are: The Footbridge Community Care Unit (CCU), a 44 bed Acute Inpatient Service (AIS) located on the St. Vincent’s Hospital Fitzroy Campus, the North Fitzroy PARC and two community mental health services (CMHS) at Hawthorn and East Melbourne (Clarendon CMHS) consisting of Continuing Care (CCT), Mobile Support and Treatment Service (MSTS) and Homeless Outreach (CHOPS) services, Psychiatric Triage and Crisis Assessment and Treatment (CAT) service, Police, Ambulance and Clinical Response (PACER), ED Mental Health, Extended Triage and The Primary Intervention Care Team (PICT), Hospital Outreach Post Suicide Engagement (HOPE), Supporting Tenants at Yarra Housing Project (STAY). A Consultation & Liaison Service is provided to the general health service. NEXUS Dual Diagnosis Service, the Body Image and Eating Disorders Assessment and Treatment Service (BETRS) are regional services. State-wide services include the Victorian Dual Disability Service and the Victorian Transcultural Mental Health. The Acute Inpatient Service includes 5 beds designated as the Koori State-wide Inpatient Service and linked to and supported by the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service. SELECTION CRITERIA ESSENTIAL REGISTRATION, LICENSE OR QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy or Social Work, Clinical Masters in Psychology and current Registration as a Psychologist under the Health Professions Registration Act 2005 (Vic) , Division 3 or Division 1 Nurse with Psychiatric Endorsement from the Nurses Board of Victoria. Current registration or eligibility for appropriate professional body. Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with the exception of Social Work.
